2014 OAU 40th Convocation Ceremony Dates and Programmes

Obafemi Awolowo University ( OAU), Ile-Ife 40th convocation ceremony date & schedule of events have been released. The programmes, including procedure for collection of convocation gowns (academic robes) by graduands are also included. All graduates of OAU who are going to take part in this convocation are hereby informed.
 
The general public is hereby invited to the 40th Convocation Ceremonies of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 10th to Friday 12th December, 2014 with the following highlights:

INFORMATION TO GRADUANDS
(A)       All students who completed their degree programmes during the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 sessions are to collect their academic robes, Order of Proceedings, and two Guest Cards from their College / Faculty Secretaries between 8.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m a day preceding the award of degrees in their disciplines on the presentation of receipts showing payment and submission of a photocopy of same as indicated below:
(i)         First Degrees and Diplomas
All graduands are required to pay convocation charges of N6,500.00 inclusive of the OAU Alumni Advancement levy of N1,500.00.
(ii)        Higher Degrees
All graduands are required to pay convocation charges of N8,500.00 inclusive of the OAU Alumni/Advancement levy of N,1.500.00
(B)       Graduands should assemble at the Car Park of the Sports Complex on their graduation day not later than 8.30 a.m. They must be fully robed and seated  in the places allocated to them at the convocation venue by 9.15 a.m.  NOBODY INCLUDING GRADUANDS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS, WILL BE ADMITTED INTO THE HALL, AFTER 9.30 A.M. EACH DAY.
(C)       Academic robes must be returned the same day of the Convocation. Failure to return the gowns on the prescribed date and time shall attract a fine of N2,000.00 per day.
(D)       Commercial Photographers/Video Operators will be charged N5,000.00 for the period. All those interested in functioning as Photographers/Video Operators are required to make payment to the Cash Office in the Bursary Department of the University between 9.00 a.m and 3.00 p.m from Monday, 1st December, 2014 and the receipts should be presented to the Public Relations Officer who will issue certificate of accreditation to operators.
(E)       All Cars, Buses and Motorcycles coming to the campus will pay N500.00 each per day during the period of Convocation.
Graduands are not allowed to leave the Convocation venue before the end of the ceremony each day.
Graduands are strongly advised to comply with these arrangements.

Please note that whenever graduands are collecting their certificates, they will be required to show evidence of payment of the Convocation fees and also payment of a sum of N3,000.00 for OAU memorabilia at the Advancement Office.

We congratulate all graduands and wish them journey mercies to and from Ile-Ife.

OAU Notice to 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 Graduands

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University wishes to inform all students who completed their degree programmes during the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 sessions are to collect their academic robes, Order of Proceedings, and two Guest Cards from their College / Faculty Secretaries between 8.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m a day preceding the award of degrees in their disciplines on the presentation of receipts showing payment and submission of a photocopy of same as indicated below:

(i)       Full-Time Minimum Duration – 6 Semesters
(ii)                  Part-Time Minimum Duration – 8 semesters (for Staff only)

Minimum Admission Requirements For OAU Postgraduate

(a)     Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
An Applicant for admission to Postgraduate Diploma of the University shall be: (i)     a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University with at least 3rd Class Degree. (ii)   a graduate of any other approved University with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower.
(b)     Master Degree Programmes:
An Applicant shall normally possess not lower than Second Class (Lower Division) Honours Degree of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved University.
(c)  Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes:
An Applicant shall possess first class or a very strong second class (Upper Division) with CGPA of 4.0 and above.
(d)  Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes
An applicant for admission to the Ph.D. Degree programme shall be: a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved
University who possesses a Master Degree with research thesis and a weighted coursework average which shall normally be not less than 60 %(B+).
(e)       All Prospective PG School Of OAU Applicants should note this:
That in addition to the admission requirements as published, ALL Candidates should please note that in accordance with the University regulations, they must satisfy the O’ Level requirements for matriculation into first degree programmes of the Obafemi Awolowo University, i.e. Five Credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language and Mathematics (where required).
Applicants   are   required   to   be   prepared   for   a   short   test   if   their   Faculty/Department   of choice so desired.

OAU postgraduate programmes application form can only done through online purchase hence interested candidates can conveniently complete the application forms and pay by taking the following steps:
Step1:     Visit OAU postgraduate admission website here
Step 2:   Create an online account, e-mail will be sent with additional details including a system-generated password.
Step 3: With the e-mail and password combination, applicants should sign in and accurately fill the pages of the application form.
Step 4.   Application processing fee can be paid using either ATM/Nigerian Debit Cards or the OAU Postgraduate Online application Scratch Cards (Details will be sent via e-mail).
Step   5.   Applicants   should   forward   the   following   relevant   documents   in   support   of   their applications in a Big brown envelope; (A4 Size) indicating at the back, the enclosed documents, Form number and name.
(i)       Photocopy of University Degree Certificate
(ii)       Photocopy of NYSC Discharge Certificate
(iii)     Photocopy of   O’Level Result
(iv)     The original transcript obtained from the Applicant’s University plus duly completed downloaded Obafemi Awolowo University Postgraduate College Transcript Label;     (i)-(iv) must be properly addressed to:
Admission Officer, Postgraduate College, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
(v) Kindly note that another set of relevant documents in support of their application as specified in (i)-(iv) should also be forwarded to the Head of Department of their choice
Additional Information
  1. ATM Cards for all banks on the InterSwitch network are supported.
  2. Application processing fee for all programmes costs N8,500 (Eight thousand and five hundred naira only).
  3. The progress of completed application forms can be monitored online and notification will be sent to applicants once decisions are made on the application.
  4. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by e-mail.

Prospective OAU Postgraduate School students should take of the following as well:

(a)  For additional information, visit the Postgraduate College Website at http://www.oauife.edu.ng/pgcollege
  • Sponsors   such   as   employment   agencies,   Ministries,   Corporations,   Parastatals   and   Foreign Missions should advise their candidates to apply personally for application forms and multiple applications will lead to cancellation of all applications forwarded.
  • Any candidate currently registered on a Postgraduate programme in this University and who applies for admission into another postgraduate programme without such a disclosure on the application form and who fails to duly withdraw from such a current programme with the approval of Senate, will automatically forfeit his studentship under the existing University Regulation.
  • Applications without Transcripts will not be considered.

Application Deadline

Duly completed Application forms must be procured and submitted online on or before 31 December, 2014.
  • Any applicant whose original transcript does not reach Obafemi Awolowo Unversity campus before the admission exercise begins will not be admitted.
  • Successful candidates will receive their letters of admissions through their e-mail addresses supplied
  • Note: Obafemi Awolowo University does not have any outside agent to help with the 2014/2015 postgraduate admission exercise. The use of such agent is at candidate’s own risk and candidates should desist from using third party in processing their applications.
