2014 OAU 40th Convocation Ceremony Dates and Programmes

Obafemi Awolowo University ( OAU), Ile-Ife 40th convocation ceremony date & schedule of events have been released. The programmes, including procedure for collection of convocation gowns (academic robes) by graduands are also included. All graduates of OAU who are going to take part in this convocation are hereby informed.
 
The general public is hereby invited to the 40th Convocation Ceremonies of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 10th to Friday 12th December, 2014 with the following highlights:

INFORMATION TO GRADUANDS
(A)       All students who completed their degree programmes during the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 sessions are to collect their academic robes, Order of Proceedings, and two Guest Cards from their College / Faculty Secretaries between 8.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m a day preceding the award of degrees in their disciplines on the presentation of receipts showing payment and submission of a photocopy of same as indicated below:
(i)         First Degrees and Diplomas
All graduands are required to pay convocation charges of N6,500.00 inclusive of the OAU Alumni Advancement levy of N1,500.00.
(ii)        Higher Degrees
All graduands are required to pay convocation charges of N8,500.00 inclusive of the OAU Alumni/Advancement levy of N,1.500.00
(B)       Graduands should assemble at the Car Park of the Sports Complex on their graduation day not later than 8.30 a.m. They must be fully robed and seated  in the places allocated to them at the convocation venue by 9.15 a.m.  NOBODY INCLUDING GRADUANDS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS, WILL BE ADMITTED INTO THE HALL, AFTER 9.30 A.M. EACH DAY.
(C)       Academic robes must be returned the same day of the Convocation. Failure to return the gowns on the prescribed date and time shall attract a fine of N2,000.00 per day.
(D)       Commercial Photographers/Video Operators will be charged N5,000.00 for the period. All those interested in functioning as Photographers/Video Operators are required to make payment to the Cash Office in the Bursary Department of the University between 9.00 a.m and 3.00 p.m from Monday, 1st December, 2014 and the receipts should be presented to the Public Relations Officer who will issue certificate of accreditation to operators.
(E)       All Cars, Buses and Motorcycles coming to the campus will pay N500.00 each per day during the period of Convocation.
Graduands are not allowed to leave the Convocation venue before the end of the ceremony each day.
Graduands are strongly advised to comply with these arrangements.

Please note that whenever graduands are collecting their certificates, they will be required to show evidence of payment of the Convocation fees and also payment of a sum of N3,000.00 for OAU memorabilia at the Advancement Office.

We congratulate all graduands and wish them journey mercies to and from Ile-Ife.

The Polytechnic Ibadan 30th Convovation Announced

The Polytechnic Ibadan 30th convocation ceremony events will hold on Friday, 5th December, 2014. The general public is hereby invited to the 30th Convocation Ceremonies of the The Polytechnic, Ibadan for the award of National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma in the Sciences, Engineering, Environmental, Business and Communication as well as the award of Prizes for 2013/2014 graduands.
 
The Polytechnic, Ibadan 30th Convocation Ceremonies have been scheduled to hold on  Friday, 5th December, 2014 with the following highlights:

1.) Rehearsal for Graduation
  • Graduands are expected to attend the rehearsal of procession and sitting arrangement by 10.00am on Thursday 4th December, 2014 at the Conference Centre between South and North Campus.
2.) Guests
  • Each graduand is entitled to bring two guests. Invitation cards are to be received at the point of collection of academic gown and certificate scroll.
3.) Hiring of Academic Gowns and Registration for the Alumni Association
  • Academic gowns will be available for collection in the Faculty Offices as from Friday, 28th November, 2014 on payment of N 1,500 for academic gown and academic certificate scroll. N500 is refundable on safe return of the academic gown. Payment should be made to the Bursary, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
  • The gowns should be returned on or before Friday 12th December, 2014, failing which any defaulter will pay N100.00 for each day of illegally retaining the outfit after the deadline.
4.) Other Activities
  • Friday 28th November, 2014 Jumat Prayer at The Polytechnic, Ibadan Central Mosque, CEC area, along Ijokodo end Staff Quarters at 1.30pm.
  • Sunday 30th November, 2014 Church Service at The Lord’s Chapel, Middle Belt Area, The Polytechnic, Ibadan at 10.00am.
  • Thursday 4th December, Graduation Lecture titled: “Polytechnic Graduates and Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria”, to be delivered by Professor Olatunbosun Ganiyu Arinola of the Department of Chemical Pathology, University College Hospital, Ibadan at the North Campus Assembly Hall by 03.00pm Prompt.
5.) Friday 5th December, 2014
Awards:
  • National Diploma
  • Higher National Diploma
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in different programmes run by the Institution.
  • Full Professional Diploma in Town Planning
  • Award of Prizes.
6.) Photographers and Hawkers wishing to partake in the graduation programme are requested to pay a token sum of N500.00 to the Bursary Department of the Institution to enable them register with the Security and Public Relations Unit.

AAUA Holds 5th Convocation Ceremony November 6, 7

The 5th Convocation Ceremony of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions, for conferment of  First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Higher Degrees, Honorary Degrees and Presentation of Prizes, will hold on Thursday, November 6th to Friday, 7th  November, 2014, at the Multipurpose Hall of the University, at 10:00a.m. each day.

The week-long ceremony will begin on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 with a Press Conference in the Council Chamber of the new Senate Building at 11:00am.

The Convocation Lecture, titled, The Break Up of Nigeria: Myths, Realities and Implications, will be delivered by His Excellency, former Senate President, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu under the chairmanship of the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, OON, on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in the University Multipurpose Hall at 2:00pm.

UNILORIN Receives N3m Donation from First Bank Plc

The management of the First Bank Plc has rendered a financial donation of N3 million to the University of Ilorin as part of the bank’s support to the institution’s 30th convocation ceremonies.
 
Similarly, the bank also presented the Vice Chancellor, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali with a Flex Banner also known as Roll-on designed to congratulate the Vice Chancellor on his recent conferment with the national honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking during the presentation of the cheque at the Vice Chancellor’s office last week Monday, the leader of the bank team, Mr. Babatunde Salami, said the gesture was part of the his bank’s contribution to the University, sources report.

Mr. Salami, who said the gesture, has become an annual tradition of First Bank to support the University of Ilorin, also sought for more patronage between the two institutions.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor thanked the management of the First Bank Plc for the demonstration of love and pledged that the money would be judiciously used for the purpose it was meant for.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Ceremonials Committee, Prof. Job Atte, appreciated the bank for extending its hands of fellowship to the University and promised that the fund would be used judiciously.

University of Uyo Convocation Ceremony Schedule 19th and 20th

The University of Uyo has announced the schedule of events for the 19th and 20th Convocation Ceremony of the institution.

Information To Graduands
Granduands are expected to pay the following amounts as applicable to their categories for hiring of gowns; purchase of Order of Proceedings and scrolls at the UNIUYO Microfinance Bank, University of Uyo, Town Campus.

    • 1. First Degree, Diploma and Certificate Graduands are to pay a total sum of Four Thousand Naira (N4,000.00) only.
    2. Masters Degree and Postgraduate Diploma Graduands are to pay a total sum of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only.
    • Graduands who are yet to pay the Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) Alumni Association Fee are requested to do so immediately.
    • Academic gowns and invitation cards should not be collected by proxy. Each Graduand will collect an invitation card for his/her Guest from the relevant Faculty Officer/Secretary, Postgraduate School.
    • Ph.D Graduands are to purchase their gowns at the cost of N40,000.00 (Forty Thousand Naira) only, and also pay the sum of N2,000.00 (Two Thousand Naira) only for the Order of Proceedings and scroll.
    • The list of Graduands is available on the University website: www.uniuyo.edu.ng
Return of Academic Gowns
All hired academic gowns must be returned to the respective Faculty Officers and Secretary, Postgraduate School, not later than Monday, November 24, 2014. Each Graduand should obtain a Certificate of Clearance from the relevant Faculty Officer/Secretary, Postgraduate School. Graduands who fail to comply with this directive will have to pay a penalty of Two Hundred Naira (N200.00) only per day, until the gown is returned.
 

Press Accreditation
• Arrangements have been made by the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations for the accreditation of members of the press, Photographers and Video Cameramen not later than Wednesday. November 19, 2014.
• Graduands should please note that only University accredited photographers and video cameramen will be admitted into the Convocation Arena.

Crescent University Holds 6th Convocation Ceremony

The University also conferred the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi and Dr Haci Kutlu from Turkey with Doctor Of Science ( Honoris Causa) in Business Administration and Political Science and International Relations respectively.

The founder and Proprietor, Judge Bola Ajibola expressed his gratification with the education plus of the University, noting that the certificates had been awarded to graduands because they had excelled in both learning and character.

Judge Ajibola said ” students in our institution may repeat a level not only because of academic failure but because they fail in their moral and spiritual dispositions”,adding that Crescent University had built this into a course titled Global Citizenship which must be passed compulsorily.

Recounting the achievements of the university, Ajibola expressed that ” part of the second visit of the NUC to our university commended the good behaviour of our students. The accreditation panel members acknowledged the cool-headedness and polite greetings from our students wherever the NUC officials met them on campus”.


In his speech,the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hassan Kehinde Okeleye maintained that with the directives of the NUC, the university had a virile entrepreneurial centre where all students are trained on alternative skills/vocations to their basic degree programmes and noted that some of the products of this centre were displayed at the convocation ground outside the auditorium.

Prof Okeleye said “Crescent University is not relenting in her efforts for meaningful linkages with national and foreign universities.

Okeleye also noted that the proposed College Medical and Health Sciences was to address the dearth of Muslims in the medical and health professions adding that there was great demand for such courses.
He called on parents and guardians to counsel their wards on the need to be law-abiding and focus on their studies while on campus, adding that the university’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice, indecent dressing, cultism and all other anti-social vices was still in force.

In a related development, the Proprietor’s prize for the best behaved make and female went to Mudathir Akintunde Akinsanya and Baydau Yetunde Musbaudeen while the vice chaneloor’s prize for the best overall graduating student went to Ibrahim Ayoola Olatunde.
