2014/2015 ABUAD Available Scholarship and Merit Awards for Academic Session

Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), the fastest growing university in Africa, hereby gives notice that the following scholarships designed to promote quality, equity and relevance in education are available in 2014/2015 academic session.

(a) Prospective Indigent Students

· An indigent applicant who has at least six (6) A1 in WAEC or NECO and who qualifies in his chosen course may apply for ABUAD scholarship.

· He shall be entitled to scholarship for free tuition and free accommodation.

· He shall provide evidence of financial incapacity.

· He must be industrious and disciplined.

· He must abstain completely from drugs and alcohol

· He must not be a cultist and must not belong to any group or club of cultists.



(b) Undergraduates in ABUAD

The following scholarships are available for undergraduate students in the university:

· Students with 5.0 CGPA and above – N500,000 each

· Students with 4.75 – 4.99 CGPA – N200,000 each

· Students with 4.75 CGPA – N100,000 each

· Merit awards – N100,000 each

- Most disciplined student

- Best dressed student

- Outstanding student leader

- Sports man of the year

- Sports woman of the year

- Cleanest hostel user (Male and Female)



(c)ABUAD Undergraduates who lose parents or guardians while studying in the university

· Such student shall enjoy full scholarship (as the university has done in the past)



(d)Prospective students who choose to study Agriculture in ABUAD

· 50% reduction in tuition fee

· Work and study opportunity to earn extra money for services rendered on the farm, in the cafeteria, factory, library and hostel.

· Provision for financial assistance to graduates to facilitate self employment



(e)Parents who have 2 or more students in ABUAD

Parents who have more than one child shall be entitled to 25% discount on tuition fee.



(f)Staff who have biological children studying in ABAUD

Staff who have biological children studying in ABUAD shall be entitled to 25% discount on tuition fee.



(g)ABUAD Lecturers and potential Lecturers

· Full payment of salary to lecturers with permission to attend post-graduate courses in Nigerian universities.

· Financial assistance to lecturers who want to study abroad

· Financial support to lecturers to attend conferences

· Financial assistance to support and undertake research

(ii) Pay acceptance fee of Eight Thousand Naira only (N8,000.00) with the use of ATM card that is Interswitch compatible.

(iii) Print acceptance receipt on-line and change to official receipt in the Bursary, and commence Registration immediately.

Please note that this process must be completed not later than Friday 12th September, 2014. Candidates who failed to complete the procedures will forfeit the offers of admission.

Instructions to Candidates Offered Provisional Admissions for The 2014/2015 academic Session

Candidates offered provisional admission are required to adopt the following guidelines to regularize their acceptance of the offer:

1) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (www.portal.unn.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a unique Payment Invoice for acceptance fee. Take the Invoice to any branch of any bank on the e-tranzact platform to pay twenty five thousand naira (N25, 000) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice Number is keyed in appropriately at the bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing a Confirmation Number and your Invoice Number.

2)Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng)or portal (www.portal.unn.edu.ng) again and login your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.

3) Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.

2015, Tulane University Merit Scholarships for International Undergraduate Students in USA

Applications are available for merit scholarships available for international undergraduate students to study at Tulane University. Tulane University is offering both partial and full tuition scholarships for merit students. Up to 125 full tuition scholarships are available. Partial scholarships range from $10,000 to $30,000 per year. The majority of merit scholarships are renewable for 4 years (or 5 years for architecture students). 2014 Merit Scholarships for International Students at University Hamburg in Germany

University of Hamburg is inviting application for Merit scholarships for International Students. Merit scholarship is open to international students twenty-nine years or younger pursuing a magister, bachelors, or master’s degree, or those thirty-three years or younger pursuing a doctoral degree. Applicants will receive monthly scholarships of up to EUR 650. The maximum funding period is twelve months. The application deadline is 15 October.

Islamic Development Bank Merit Scholarship Programme for High Technology for IDB Member Countries

Each year, Islamic Development Bank awards Merit Scholarship Programme for the students from IDB Member Countries. Scholarships are awarded to pursue research and study at the top most reputable academic and research institutions worldwide ranked by Times Higher Education Supplement (THES). However, priority is given to study/research at IDB partners universities. Scholarships are awarded up to 3-year for PhD study/ research and up to 6-12 months for postdoctoral research. The application deadline is December 31.

 Scholarships are provided in fields of studies under the programme are determined by the priority needs of the country’s development in science and technology sectors and to supplement the IDB vision 1440H. Current focus is thus on the following fields of studies: Health/medicine, Agriculture/Food production, Water Resources/ Desertification, Energy/Infrastructure Development, Nanotechnology, Development-focused ICT, and pure Science subjects.

The objective of the programme is to develop technically qualified human resources in the IDB member countries by providing scholarships to promising and outstanding scholars and researchers to undertake advanced studies and research in the fields of applied science and technology needed for the development of the member countries. The Programme offers scholarships for study and research at two levels: (i) 3-year PhD study/ research, and (ii) 6-12 months of Post-Doctoral research.

How to Apply: 
Download the application form for 3 Years PhD Study or application form for Post-Doctoral Research. The applications must be submitted through the nominating institutions to the Office of the IDB Governor for the country. It is the Office of the IDB Governor that will forward the applications to the IDB and not the individual applicants or the nominating institutions. As for Egypt, applications should be forwarded through the Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt instead of Office of the IDB Governor. Applications sent directly to the IDB will not be considered.

East Tennessee State University International Students Academic Merit Scholarship

This award is reserved for new international students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The award covers 50% of the total of in-state and out-of-state tuition and lasts for the duration of the student's degree program. Students can apply online at www.etsu.edu/iss .

Other Criteria

Students must, be admitted to ETSU as full-time, degree-seeking students, show a demonstrated record of academic achievement, have or plan to have an F-1 or J-1 student visa, and be able to provide letters of recommendation. Students can apply online at www.etsu.edu/iss . Students must apply for admission to ETSU before applying for this scholarship. This scholarship can only be used for study at East Tennessee State University.
