MTN Foundation Awards Scholarships to 1,372 Students

1,205 science and technology inclined students and 167 brilliant blind students across the country were over the weekend in Federal University of Technology Owerri offered scholarship in the 2014 MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship awards for the blind students.

According to the Director of the foundation, Dennis Okoro, the Foundation had concluded plans to be in Abuja, the federal capital territory where successful students in the northern region would enjoy the gesture and thereafter, extend same to those from the western region which would be held in Lagos on the December 9.

He stated that the aim was to celebrate academic excellence in students who had worked extremely hard and who had unquestionably deserved an opportunity to continue to pursue their dreams of a higher education.

He congratulated the recipients assuring them that the Foundation would continue to support them as long as they maintain the required cumulative grade point average, CGPA, scores every year.

AAU Hosts 2014 Nigerian Law Students’ Competition

The Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma will host the 10th edition of the Client Counselling Competition among Nigerian law students.

This was made known by the AAU Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Akhigbe.

According to him, it will be a three-day programme which will hold between December 4th and
December 7th, 2014.

He said the competition was aimed at promoting knowledge and interest among law students to develop interviewing, planning, analytical and preventive skills in their relationship with clients.

"the competition will also provide valuable educational and cultural interchange among students, law teachers and legal practitioners."

"The competition simulates a law office scene in which law students acting as lawyers, are presented with a client's matter."

"The students will conduct interview with a person playing the role of a client and then explain how they will help to resolve the client's matter."

"The students’ performance will then be assessed by a panel of two to three lawyers and other professionals who will act as judges."

Winners of the competition as we learnt will have the opportunity to represent the country at the
international competition.

Though there has not been any official date released by the school authorities, however, according to the 2013/2014 academic calendar the new session (2014/2015) is expected to commence on 10th January for new students and 17th January 2015 for old students.

2014/2015 UNILORIN Notice on Post-graduate Registration Exercise

This is to inform all the newly admitted and returning Postgraduate Students in the 2014/2015 academic session that the postgraduate portal has now been opened for registration.

The registration commences from Tuesday, 18th November, 2014

In view of the above, all concerned students are therefore enjoined to commence their registration immediately without further delay, please.

Students are advised to use ONLY the 2014/2015 School Charges link on their personal portal page for the current payment and NOT the General Outstanding Payment platform link.

Any student who fails to make payment via the appropriate link and at the stipulated registration period of initial 2weeks is doing so at his/her own risk as the portal would automatically not capture such student as a registered student.

Late registration commences immediately after the 2weeks normal registration lapses and would attract a fee of N10, 000.00 only

You are to adhere strictly to the aforementioned information and inform your colleagues.

River State Polytechnic (RIVPOLY) Notice to Students on Re-Validaton of Their Studentship

All students of Rivers State Polytechnic are hereby informed that the Institution will be resuming for academic activities on Monday, November 24, 2014. It will be recalled that the Rivers State Polytechnic was closed following students disturbances of Thursday, October 2nd, 2014.

Below is the information for students on the conditions to be fulfilled in the re-validation of their studentship.

The Governing Council and Management of the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori have directed that a surcharge of N20,000 be levied each student. In addition, a portal access charge of N1,000 and bank-charge of N300 will be paid by each student while paying the surcharge, making a total of N21,300 to be paid into any of the following accounts:

Zenith Bank Acc. No. - 1013729461

Access Bank Acc. No. - 0054968747

1.The student should go to any branch of Access Bank or Zenith Bank and ask to pay Riv. Poly. Surcharge. The student will be asked to supply his or her matriculation number.

2.After paying at the bank, a printout with a unique code will be issued. The student use this code to log into our portal and print out a copy of "Students' Undertaking of Good Conduct."

3.The form has to be filled, signed and stamped by Commissioner of Oats/Notary Public and submitted at their departmental Offices in triplicate. The student is strongly advised to keep a copy of the printout from bank, Bursary receipt and the Undertaking form as this will be used to admit students into Examination.
