ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Postgraduate Diploma

The following shall qualify for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma   Programmes:-

1. Graduates of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) or other recognized Universities.
2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of lower credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas.
3. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
4. Candidates must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation i.e. five credit passes at the O’level to include English Language and Mathematics (for Science and Social Science based Programmes) while Humanities and Arts based programmes shall require a pass in Mathematics in addition to a credit pass in English.
5. In addition to (i)-(iv) above, a Candidate seeking for admission into the PGDRD must require a credit in Mathematics while Candidate seeking for admission into the PGDE require only pass in Mathematics.

Master’s Degree

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: -

1. Graduates of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University or other recognized Universities who have obtained the approved degree of Bachelor with at least Second – Class Honours or its equivalent, or candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of UMYU or any recognized University with at least a credit level pass.
2. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
3. Candidates with only Bachelors degree in third class division who have at least five years relevant working experience. This shall be applicable to MRD only.
4. Candidate who possess HND with at least a credit pass from recognized institutions and at least pass at Postgraduate Diploma of UMYU or any other recognized institution in the relevant areas. This shall be applicable to MRD only.
5. In addition to (i) – (iv) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation i.e. five credit passes at the O’level to include English Language and Mathematics (for Science and Social Science based Programmes) while Humanities and Arts based programmes shall require a pass in Mathematics in addition to a credit pass in English.
6. Also candidates seeking admission into the M.A, M.Ed. and M.Sc. programmes shall sit an entrance examination to be conducted by the University.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy Programmes: -

1. Graduates of UMYU and other recognized universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a CGPA of 4 on a 5 point scale appropriate to the proposed areas of study.
2. Candidates with the Degree of Professional Masters with at least a Bachelor’s Degree may qualify for admission provided that they satisfy the condition in (i) above.
3. Graduates of UMYU or other recognized Universities who have obtained Masters of Philosophy degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study.
4. In addition to (i), (ii) and (iii) above candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Second Class Lower division.
5. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
6. In addition to (i) – (v) above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation i.e. five credit passes at the O'level to include English Language and Mathematics (for Science and Social Science based Programmes) while Humanities and Arts based Programmes shall require a pass in Mathematics in addition to credit pass in English.
7. In addition to (i) – (vi) above, a candidate must submit a copy of his/her MA/MSc thesis as part of the requirement for admission.

Submission of Application Forms

Completed application Forms should be returned to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, P.M.B 2218, Katsina not later than 12^th December, 2014.

Each completed application form should be accompanied with a bank draft of N10, 000:00 or 100 USD for foreign applicants in the name of the University or   teller from Ja’iz Bank ( Account number 0000595829).

All candidates are advised to check the University’s website for acknowledgement after the closing date.

All candidates are required to request their previous institutions to forward copies of their academic transcripts accompanied by Form B, to the Secretary Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.

UMYU 2nd Batch Post-UTME Screening Date Announced

This is to inform aspirants of Umaru Musa Yar'adua University who have registered for the 2014/2015 post-UTME screening exercise but are yet to take their screening examination that the 2nd batch of the screening exercise is scheduled to hold 3rd to 6th September, 2014.

NOTE:
Candidates for the Post UTME screening exercise are advised to be decently dressed.

Candidates with indecent dressing will not be allowed into the screening premises.

Phones and all other forms of mobile communication, electronic devices, bags and luggage are not allowed within the screening premises.

Only registered candidates for the screening exercise will be allowed into the screening premises.

Umaru Musa Yaradua University Closure Of 2013/2014 Registration Exercise

This is to inform all returning and fresh (including Post-graduate) students that the final date for the closure of registration exercises shall be Monday, 9th June, 2014.

In view of the above, all students are advised to ensure that they complete all registration formalities before the date as late registration will not be entertained.

Failure to register will be deemed as voluntary withdrawal from the University.

Umaru Musa Yar'adua University: Important Announcement

The management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua wishes to inform the general public about the few challenges being faced in the deployment of the new portal technology being used for students’ registration.

Based on this, all students are hereby informed that the general payment schedule as generated on the portal remain applicable. The variations that emerge as a result of the 25% subsidy provided on the students’ fee by the state government shall be enjoyed by all to whom it applies.

However, students are to understand that fees payable during registration vary from department to department based on course offered.

Efforts have been put in place to ensure that all necessary variations arising from over or under payments are adequately addressed.

Students with any complaint are advised to contact the Directorate of Information & Communications Technology for clarification.

Meanwhile, there will be no surcharge on late registration until these problems are resolved.

Even as lectures will commence on Monday, 12th May 2014, registration will continue.

UMYU REGISTRATION GUIDELINES FOR THE REMEDIAL PROGRAMME 2014/2015 ACADEMIC SESSION

Candidates who have been offered provisional admission into the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Remedial Programme for 2014/2015 Academic session are hereby invited to note that:

• Payment of Registration fees of Thirty Eight Thousand Naira (38,000.00) is to be made through any Bank by obtaining Bank Draft payable to Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (Pre-Degree School Account).
• Students to present Bank Drafts to the Centre Co-ordinator for receipts.
• No hostel accommodation is available for both male and female students.
• Students are advised to carefully read the conditions contained in their Admission letters and abide by them.
• Course registration follows at the centre of study immediately after the student has met all conditions.
• The course is for a maximum duration of 5 terms.

Umaru Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina 2013/2014 CLEARANCE/VERIFICATION EXERCISE

All candidates offered admission into the University for the 2013/2014 session are required to report for clearance/verification.

Candidates offered admission on the first list are to report to their respective Departments for clearance before reporting to the Academic Office for collection of letters of admission.

Candidates on the 2nd list (including change of course, LLB and Direct Entry candidates), are required to report for verification between Monday 30th December, 2013 and Wednesday 8th January, 2014.

Candidates who fail to report for either the screening or verification would be deemed to be not interested in the offers.
