Professor Dibu Ojerinde - Candidates Without ICT Knowledge Should Forget JAMB

THE Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board,JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde has stated that students and candidates who are not computer literate will not be allowed to write any examination coordinated by the board from 2015.

Meantime, the Senate President, Senator David Mark and the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde have harped on the importance of proper education among the youths, saying it was the panacea to curb youth restiveness and other social vices in a country.

Mark, Ojerinde harps on Education as antidote to nation’s woes. The attributed the myriads of problems like the recent insurgency in the Nort East, the militancy in the Niger Delta, the kidnapping in the South East and other crimes such as violence, armed robbery and drug abuse as a result of illiteracy.

The JAMB Registrar who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Professor Odusola Ojerinde, his late wife memorial golf tournament in Otukpo, Benue State said part of efforts to improve education in Nigeria in line with global best practices was the introduction of Computer Based Test, CBT, for all the
board’s examinations.

He announced that beginning from 2015, any student or
candidate who was not computer (ICT) literate would have no business with JAMB conducted examinations even as he declared, “we are not going to compromise on that”.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Mr. Paul Mumeh, the JAM Registrar said it was for that reason that JAMB embarked on the establishment of Computer Based Centres across the country preparatory for all its examinations.

He stressed that examination was central to education and must be taken seriously at all levels.
Also speaking Senator Mark said he was committed to the
development of education, adding, “because I believe that a well educated citizenry would be an asset to the nation.

“Besides being the foundation for any development, education liberates the people and curbs all forms anti social behaviors.

“Whatever, I can do to support education; I will not hesitate to do it. I want to bequeath education of our people especially in my constituency as a legacy. For me , It is the most important investment.’

The Senate President according to the statement explained that he promotes sports as the needed companion to education “because a combination of both will enhance peaceful coexistence, eradicates crimes, promotes unity and development.”

List of JAMB UTME 2015 Registration Centers in Nigeria - Check Nearest Centre Here

Here we are building a list of 2015 JAMB UTME Registration Centers that have been officially accredited by the exam body. The 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration will not be done in Cyber Cafes like we are used to. ICT/CBT centers will be used for application and registration.

From all indications, mainly big and credible institutions will be used as registration centers. At the time of writing this post, ICT and CBT centers of Universities have been accredited as official JAMB registration centers for 2015 UTME. We are trying to compile a list of accredited centers here. The aim of doing this?

This list to help candidates to get centers located around them. We also know that fake centers looking to scam candidates will spring up, hence, we aim to help guide candidates who want to register for the exam to choose only accredited centers.

We know we cannot lay our hands on all center but we will try as much as possible to get most of them.
We will list centers that have been approved for 2015 JAMB below and if there is a procedure on how to register at any of these center.

Lago State Government Trains 1000 Teachers on Effective Use of ICT

Lagos State Government has trained no fewer than 1000 of its secondary schools teachers in the Effective Use of ICT across the Education Curriculum, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye has said.
 The Lagos State Government

Oladunjoye who disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the Workshop in Lagos noted that it is the beginning of a series of many capacity building interventions and activities for teachers in the state public secondary Schools which the government is putting together.

The Commissioner pointed out that the quality of education is one of the major planks of national development adding that nations that have developed all over the world have paid great attention to their educational service delivery as they have not only invested in physical infrastructure but also in the human infrastructure at all levels.

Said she, “in Lagos State, our thinking is that while it is right to build infrastructure, it is even of greater importance to build the capacity of staff who will deliver services to the teeming populace of our State.

The reasoning behind this is the fact that only competent and committed teachers teach, not bricks and mortar.”

She opined that this reasoning informed the State Government’s decision to continuously invest in the Education Sector through a variety of interventions like the development of physical infrastructure and development of teaching and administrative staff in state public Schools.

“Apart from improving on the physical infrastructure in the State’s Public Schools, we have invested heavily in capacity building across all strata of the education sector particularly through the Lagos Eko Secondary Education Project by strengthening school administration, enhancing service delivery and improving learning outcomes,” Oladunjoye noted.

Oladunjoye added that the capacity enhancement programme was coming barely two months after the successful implementation of an induction programme for over 1,700 newly employed probationary teachers into the State Teaching Service stressing that this is a testimony of the Government’s commitment to all-round excellence in the State Public Service.

She explained that the Workshop has been properly scoped to address peculiarities so as to ensure fitness of purpose and seamless transfer of knowledge gained into our classrooms adding that it is by so doing that the investment of public funds on this programme could be justified.

She enjoined participants to maximize the opportunity afforded by the Workshop noting that their participation in the programme would be measured by how well they are able to apply and replicate the knowledge gained in their classrooms, lessons and in their overall effectiveness as teachers.

“Remember also that you owe it a duty to yourselves and to posterity to serve humanity diligently through your various Schools. It is only when you do this and faithfully manage and execute that which is committed into your hands, that the expenditure of public resources on this learning and development intervention would have been justified,” the Commissioner added.

ABUJA – THE Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde has stated that students and candidates who are not computer literate will not be allowed to write any examination coordinated by the board from 2015.

The JAMB Registrar who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Professor Odusola Ojerinde, his late wife memorial golf tournament in Otukpo, Benue State said part of efforts to improve education in Nigeria in line with global best practices was the introduction of Computer Based Test, CBT, for all the board’s examinations.

He announced that beginning from 2015, any student or candidate who was not computer (ICT) literate would have no business with JAMB conducted examinations even as he declared, “we are not going to compromise on that”.

Also speaking Senator Mark said he was committed to the development of education, adding, “because I believe that a well educated citizenry would be an asset to the nation.
