The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife Centre for Distance Learning (OAU- CDL) has announced the registration details for fresh students of the pre degree programme for the 2014/2015 academic session. See the details below.

1. RESUMPTION: Resumption dates are scheduled as follow;
Tuesday, 18th November, 2014 – Biology/Chemistry/Physics (BCP)
Wednesday, 19th November, 2014 – Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics (CMP) – Geography/Mathematics/ Physics (GMP) – Economics/Government/Mathematics (EGM)
Thursday, 20th November, 2014 – Government/Lit./Rel. Studies (GLR) – Mathematics/Geog./Economics (MGE) – Economics/Govt/Literature in Eng. (EGL)

2. PARENTS’ FORUM: There will be Parents’ Forum at 12.00 Noon each day. All parents are expected to be present

3. REGISTRATION / SCREENING: You are to present the following for registration on resumption:
i. Original and photocopy of your admission letterii. Downloaded copy of medical history and examination form duly signed and stamped compulsorily from a government hospital.
iii. Downloaded copy of CDL Clinic Biodata duly completed
iv. A downloaded copy of oath form duly completed and signed by both parent and student on a postal stamp of N50.00 (Make a photocopy for yourself and keep for orientation day.)
v. Originals and photocopies of your credentials (WAEC, NECO, etc.)
vi. Three (3) Copies of your Hostel allocation Slip
vii. Proof of payments (original Copies of your e-payment documents)
viii. Six passport photographs
You are to report to the Centre for Distance Learning Campus, Moro, Ife-North Local Government and bring along the following:
  • A 2×6 mattress, a pillow (For students allocated to hostels outside campus only)
  • Cooking utensils and other Items of convenience
You are expected to now LOG IN to your account on the OAU CDL website(www.oaucdl.edu.ng) and download your Registration Package and follow instruction there in.

EKSU 2014/2015 Registration Details for Newly Admitted Students

Please find below, the procedure for the screening/registration exercise of freshmen in the 2014/2015 Academic Session which will commence on Monday, 20th October, 2014 and end on Friday, 14th November, 2014.

PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION
1. Candidates visit the Admissions Office to obtain Authority to proceed for registration and submit their O’Level results for verification.

2. Candidates visit the office of the Faculty Officer to collect screening materials. They are to present their provisional admission slips, the letter of acceptance of the provisional admission and the receipt of payment down-loaded from the internet.

3. Faculty Officer issues screening materials to candidates, that is, the Screening of Credential Form and four (4) student data files. The Faculty Officers are to check the names of candidates presenting themselves for registration on the admission list.

4. Candidates fill the personal data files and put the photocopies of their credentials and other documents in the files - a complete set in each file.

5. Candidates proceed to their Heads of the Departments who sight the original copies of their credentials/documents and sign the candidates screening forms, if qualified for admission

into the Department.

6. The candidates return to the Faculty Officer who will then sight the original copies of the candidates’ documents and sign the new Students Screening Forms, if qualified based on the documents tendered.

7. Candidates returns to the Admissions Office to obtain their O’Level Verification Certificate to be used for Central Screening.

8. Candidates proceed to the Senate & Academic Matters’ Office for Central Screening with their student data files and the O’ level Verification Certificate issued to them by the Admission’s Office (Compulsory requirement).

9. Candidates submit the four copies of the personal data files after Central Screening as follows:

a. A copy to the Faculty Officer

b. A copy to the Head of Department’s Office

c. A copy to the Central Screening Officer/Senates & Academic Matters Officer

d. A copy to the Admission Officer


**Heads of Departments and Faculty Officers are to note that the O’Level Verification Certificate from the Admissions Officer and JAMB Admission Letter are not pre-requisites for their own screening. They are compulsory ONLY for the purpose of Central Screening.

Candidates are to note that the above schedule is sacrosanct/important and it presupposes full payment of service charges and dues.

All candidates are expected to produce the following documents and properly arranged in their files when coming for the central screening as follows:

1. Provisional letter of Admission - Downloaded from the Internet.

2. Letter of Acceptance of the offer of provisional admission - Downloaded from the Internet/obtained from JAMB.

3. Authority to proceed for Registration.

4. O’Level Verification Certificate (SSCE/NECO/NCE/ND/GCE A/Level NCE where applicable) from Admissions Office.

5. Original copies of WASC/NECO results and other results e.g. NABTEB, Pre-degree placement NCE etc.

6. Birth Certificate.

7. Attestation of Local Government of Origin.

8. 8 passport size photographs.

9. Evidence of payment of school fees i.e. E-transact receipt.

10. Evidence of registration at the University Health Centre

11. Evidence of payment of One Thousand Naira (N 1,000.00) only for the collection of Students Information Handbook.

12. Attestation letter from a reputable Nigerian but not from any student or headship of student's organizations.


NOTE • All candidates are to make available four (4) photocopies of their credentials in four separate files at the point of the screening exercise.

2014 Nigerian Navy Recruitment Application Form Out - Read Details and How to Apply Here

The 2014 Nigerian Navy recruitment application for various positions is currently ongoing online at www.joinnigeriannavy.com. The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the general public and all interested candidates that the online registration for the 2014 Recruitment Exercise will commence on 27 October 2014 and close on 30 November 2014.
 
This post will show you the positions available, the requirements and how to apply for them. Just follow the instructions outlined to get, fill and submit the Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2014 Application Form.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES – PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
Registration starts on the 27 October 2014 and ends on the 30 November 2014.
CANDIDATES ARE ADVISED TO READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION
1. Candidates should possess any of the following educational and/Professional qualifications (see Guide to Candidates on Educational Requirements for Entry Category):
a) West African School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate.
b) General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level.
c) WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guild.
d) Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
e) Any other educational qualification equivalent to those mentioned above.
f) All candidates must produce their primary school leaving certificate.
g) Candidates are to note that entry requirement into the following categories is SSCE or equivalent: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 C1, D1, D2, D4, D5, D6, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, G, H. Any other additional qualifications in these categories can only serve as an added advantage for selection into the branch and not for advancement. See the guide for details.
2. Any candidate possessing higher educational/professional qualification, i.e. HND, BA,/BSC etc other than those stated in paragraph 1 (a-g) should not apply. Candidates are therefore warned that it is an offence to declare false education/professional qualification. This attracts outright withdrawal or dismissal.
3. Any certificate or qualification not declared or tendered and accepted during the recruitment exercise is not acceptable after recruitment and cannot be tendered for the purpose of change of branch or advancement while in the Naval service. Only qualifications obtained through proper service provisions are tenable after joining.
4. Applicants must be between the age of 18 – 21 years at the time of entry into the Training school for school certificate holders, while age 24 years of age is the acceptable limit for those with higher qualifications e.g. Nurses, NCE etc.
5. Applicants must not be married.
6. Candidate is required to print out Parent/Guardian consent Form and Local Government attestation form.
7. Applicants must be of Nigerian origin by birth.
8. Candidates with any of the following problems are NOT to apply: short sight, ear problem, previous orthopedic operation, flat foot, below the required height (Male 1.70m, female 1.67m), fracture, stammering, or any natural disability.
9. Applicants of the 2014 recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Navy must be free from any previous conviction by court of law on criminal charges.
10. Applicants must come to the recruitment centres with the following documents.
a) Photocopies of Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
b) Photocopies of Credentials.
c) Duly completed identification form to be signed by Chairman or Secretary of the candidate’s LGA or by an officer of the rank of Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) or Equivalent and above from candidate’s State of Origin.
d) Duly completed Parent Consent form to be signed by Candidate’s Parent or Guardian.
e) Four passport photographs duly signed and stamped by (C) above
f) Candidates are advised to bring the scratch cards of their NECO AND WAEC results to the recruitment centres.
11. The completed application form is to be submitted online.
12. Candidates that apply for the 2014 Nigerian Navy recruitment will be required to produce original of all copies of credentials listed in paragraph 1 before recruitment.
13. Any candidate suspected to have impersonated, forged or submitted false document(s) shall be disqualified from the recruitment exercise. Such candidate shall also be handed over to the police for prosecution.
14. The period of Aptitude Test and Certificate Screening is 8 – 12 December 2014
15. COMPUTER LITERACY IS AN ADDED ADVANTAGE FOR ALL CANDIDATES.

Vacancies available in the Nigerian Navy 2014 Recruitment

E1 – Writers
SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths, Accounts/Economics. Computer skill is compulsory. Also OND/NCE in Accounts or Secretariat Administration would be added advantage.
E2 – Store Assistants
SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English language, Maths and Economics. Computer skill is an added advantage.
E3 – Caterers
SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English language and Home Management/Food Nutrition. Certificate or Navy proven experience as a Waiter or Steward is an advantage.
E4 – Ordinance
5 credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other 2 subjects.
E5 – Project Technicians.
OND in relevant discipline such as Architecture, Quantity Survey, Civil/Structure/Building technology, Electrical/ Mechanical installation, Urban and Rural Planning, Estate Management, Land Economy and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths and Physics.
F1 – Medical Assistants
SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits in English Language, Maths, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science and Physics.
F2 – Medical Records/Health Administration
OND/Professional qualification in Medical Records or Health Administration (at least Lower Credit) and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language, Maths and Biology/Health Science.
F3 – Physiotherapist, Public Health, Occupational Therapist, Dental Therapist and Dental Lab Assistants
OND/Professional Qualification in relevant fields and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits In English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science and Maths.
G – Bandsmen
SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language. Certificate in music and proficiency in any musical instrument will be an added advantage.
H – Drivers/Mechanics
SSCE/Equivalent with 5 credit inclusive of English Language. Current Mechanic apprenticeship certificate and evidence of driving experience as well as a letter of recommendation [as a mechanic] from past or present employer is required.
J – Journalists
OND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Photography, Printing Technology, Information Library, Public Relations, Graphic Arts, Film Making and Cinematography and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits inclusive of English Language and Maths
K – Nurses
Single qualification RN and double qualification in any relevant qualification such as RM, A&E, ENT, Psychiatric, Paediatric, Orthopaedic/Trauma, Ophthalmic, Anaesthetic, Public Health, Occupational Health, Nephrology/Dialysis all Theatre Nursing and must also possess SSCE/equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Maths, Biology/Health Science, Physics and Chemistry.
N – Education
NCE in Arts/Science/Technical subjects in addition to SSCE/equivalent with 5 Credits inclusive of English Language and Maths for Science/Technical subjects or 5 credits Including English Language and at least a pass in Maths for Arts subjects.

2014/2015 Ebonyi State University Admission Guidelines

For the 2014/2015 admission exercise in Ebonyi State University (EBSU)the following general guidelines have been approved and shall apply accordingly:

(a) The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has approved that the 2014/2015 admission calendar shall commence from Monday 18th August, 2014 and end by Friday, 31st October, 2014.

(b) Credit passes in O/L Mathematics and English shall continue to form part of the mandatory general entry requirements for the 2014/2015 admission/registration into all EBSU regular undergraduate programmes.

(c) Admission/Registration of candidates into undergraduate programmes of Faculty of Law and Medicine/Anatomy shall continue to be based on possession of all relevant O/L entry requirements at One sitting.

(d) There shall be no consideration for admission/registration of all candidates (successful Pre-Degree graduands inclusive) into undergraduate programmes without evidence of:

(i) minimum UTME (JAMB) result/score of 180 and

(ii) either EBSU post UTME minimum score of 100 marks or PDS with a minimum score of 180.

(e) The NUC approved admission carrying capacity for EBSU is 5,617.

(f) There shall be no recommendation/admission of candidates into undergraduate programmes on Awaiting Result basis. For avoidance of doubt, no candidate who fails to present ready qualifying statement of result or certificate as evidence of fulfilment of prescribed entry requirements for admission through UTME or D/E shall be recommended/selected, admitted or registered provisionally.

(g) In addition to other stipulated criteria for supplementary admission, no successful Pre-Degree graduate without a minimum UTME score of 180 shall be considered for admission.

(h) The selection for admission in 2014/2015 session would be done in such a way that the average of the candidates UTME score with either the Post UTME or Pre-Degree score, whichever is higher, would be used.

(i) No candidate with an average score of less than each of the faculty cut-off scores as in three (3) below shall be considered for admission.

(j) No Pre-Degree graduate/other candidates who did not choose EBSU shall be considered for admission during the merit admissions.

(k) Candidates who didn't choose EBSU but passed UTME at 180 and above and also passed EBSU supplementary post UTME may be considered for supplementary admission.

(l) Direct Entry admissions shall continue to take 10% of EBSU total quota.

(m) Direct entry admission seekers whose O’level results are not screened online may not be considered for admission.

(n) A minimum of OND/OD upper credit shall continue to form basic criteria for Direct entry admission into EBSU programmes.



CONFERENCE ADMISSION

The selection of candidates for admission/registration into undergraduate programmes shall continue to be by modified conference arrangement whereby Department/Faculty lists are to be mandatorily presented with each Departmental/Faculty Admission Committee minutes (with duly signed attendance list of members and a staff of Registry (Admissions) Department in attendance).

NB: Any list that falls foul of the foregoing shall be discountenanced and an alternative list generated by the management administratively.



FACULTY ADMISSION CUT-OFF MARKS

The following average (UTME and Post UTME/PDS) scores shall be used as minimum cut-off marks for the 2014/2015 admission into programmes of EBSU;

(1)Faculty of Medicine (FBMS): (a) Med.&Surg. 220 and above
(b) Anatomy 150 and above

(2)Faculty of Law 220 and above

(3)Faculty of Health Science & Tech.(FHST)200 and above

(4) Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) 160 and above

(5) Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH)
(i) Econs, Pol. Sci. & Pub. Admin 170 and above
(ii) Others 160 and above


(6) Faculty of Applied and Natural Sciences (FANS)
(i) Biological Sci.160 and above
(ii) Physical Sci.140 and above

(7)Faculty of Education (FEDU)
(i) TVE, Science and Computer Edu.140 and above
(ii) Others 150 and above

(8)Faculty of Agric. & Natural Resources Management (FARM) 140 and above



PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR MERIT ADMISSION

The first choice admissions are to be guided by JAMB approved admission criteria as follows:

(a) Merit (RM): Here about 30 (thirty) best candidates may be selected per programme except in the following programmes where RM shall go thus:(i) Law 40, (ii) Medicine and Surgery 25, (iii) Anatomy 20, (iv) Medical Laboratory Science 20, (v) Nursing Science 20.

(b) Locality/Catchment (RL): 4 (four) best candidates from each of the 13 Federally recognized Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State shall be selected for each programme/department except in the following programmes where RL shall go thus: (i) Medicine and Surgery 3 each, (ii)Anatomy 2 each, (iii) Medical Lab. 2 each, (iv) Nursing Science 2 each. In programmes where only 30 or less candidates are listed as qualified for selection/admission, all such listed candidate shall be selected under RM

(c) ELDS: Educationally less developed states shall be discretionally applied if constraints of the 2014/2015 NUC quota and prevailing imperatives within EBSU as a state university permits. Please be reminded that states recognized as educationally less developed include: Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.

(d) JAMB approved UTME subject combinations for different courses in the brochure shall continue to also guide all admission selections.

(e) Physically challenged candidates with acceptable minimum UTME (JAMB) scores are to be accorded preferential admissions privileges even without evidence of participation in EBSU Post UTME; especially where such challenge acted as handicap to writing the exam.



ADMISSION QUOTA CRITERIA BY PERCENTAGE

Subject to the prevailing situation, admission of candidates based on the 5,617 NUC approved quota for EBSU in 2014/2015 admission session shall be guided by the following criteria.

(a) Merit/Locality etc 75% (4212 slots) subdivided into:

(i) General Merit 35% (1965 slots)
(ii) Catchment//Locality 30% (1685 slots)

(iii) Direct Entry candidates 10%(562 slots)

(b) Government/University Interest 10% (562 slots)

(c) Staff interest 10% (562 slots)

(d) Concessional 5% (281 slots)

Total (100%) (5617 slots)

ADMISSION THROUGH PDS

Admission of candidates through the Pre-Degree school (PDS) shall continue to be given adequate preference in such a manner that there shall be merit and supplementary admission consideration just like UTME candidates.



ADMISSION RATIO

(a) Council approved admission ratio of 80;20 between Ebonyi catchment LGAs versus candidates from other Local Government Areas/states respectively shall continue to apply as much as practicable.



(b) The admission ratio of 60:40 in favour of sciences and Arts based courses shall also continue to apply.

CONCESSIONAL ADMISSION

Five percent of EBSU admission quota shall be reserved for concessional admission of interested non-indigenes in the following capital intensive areas at costs as below:

SUPPLEMENTARY ADMISSION

EBSU first and supplementary choice candidates who could not secure admission through merit shall be considered for supplementary admission provided that (i) they posses sufficient evidence to confirm that they were screened during the 2014/2015 EBSU Post UTME screening exercise and that they passed JAMB (UTME) and EBSU Post UTME/PDS at the respective minimum pass marks. (ii) they show evidence of payment of three thousand naira (N3,000) only for screening.



DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSIONS

The possession of basic O/L entry requirements in their respective areas of discipline shall continue to be used as conditions for Direct Entry Admissions for 2014/2015 session. This is without prejudice to Direct Entry candidates in Law where single O/L sitting criteria shall be waived for those with good qualifying D/E result certificates.

(a) EBSU diploma results with a minimum of Upper credit shall continue to be accepted for D/E admissions just like others from Polytechnics and Monotechnics.

(b) No Diploma from other universities shall be accepted for admissions/ registration in EBSU.



ADMISSION OF STAFF BIOLOGICAL CHILDREN/ADMISSION ON STAFF INTEREST

There shall be provision for consideration of admission of staff biological children. Members of staff are advised to formally indicate such requests through collection/filling of the appropriate forms from Admissions Department. Such completed forms should be endorsed by staff HODs and submitted to Admissions Department. Only the forms approved by the Vice-Chancellor/Registrar/Chairman of Admissions Committee shall be processed for admission. Genuine staff request for admission of staff biological children shall continue to be given priority consideration.



SCREENING OF CANDIDATES

Prospective candidates shall be intensively screened to ensure that all documents tendered for admission (including O/L result, Post UTME result slip, PDS result slip and declaration of identity/nativity) are genuine. The university shall have the options of:

(i) Confirming candidates UTME scores in relation to the approved cut-off point for the desired programme as well as the genuineness of the candidates O’level result. Using this option, admission may be offered to candidates based on the genuineness of his O’level result and UTME grade.

In addition to the above admission committee/HODs/Faculty officers and all concerned with registration of candidates are advised to ensure that candidates declaration of identity/nativity are critically scrutinized to avoid possible impersonation of Ebonyi indigenes. Any impersonator discovered shall be reported to the Registrar for automatic disqualification/withdrawal of admission and permanent blacklisting from future admissions in the university.


CLOSURE OF 2014/2015 ADMISSIONS

The deadline for 2014/2015 admissions according to JAMB is Friday, October 31st 2014.

All concerned with admissions should endeavour to keep to approved schedules of admission recommendations (merit and supplementary UTME/DE admissions) so that the university will be able to conclude admissions within the stipulated period to avoid any possible sanction by JAMB. It is worthy of note that JAMB intends to enforce this deadline to the letter this year.

N/B: For purposes of proper identification of authentic Ebonyi State LGA's see attached Appendix I which contains the 13 LGA's with the development centres under each, to avoid treating Development centres as LGA's.

This is a programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It is designed to ameliorate problems of admission for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria University instead of JAMB.

The examination is conducted in May every year in designated Polytechnics and colleges of Education, while the results is released by August, prior to August i.e. between May and July students are to purchase a direct entry form from JAMB office and apply to any school of their choice. Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) 2014/15 MSc/PhD Scholarhip

The Fund’s Scholarship Application website will be open between 2nd October, 2013 and 23rd October, 2013 for 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 applicants.

2013/2014:
The website is open to all applicants for the 2013/2014 academic session that experienced difficulties uploading relevant documents to their online application to attach and submit their documents. However, those who successfully applied and uploaded their documents need not apply again.

2014/2015:
The Fund is also inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for MSc and PhD Scholarships. A combined aptitude test will be conducted for both 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 MSc applicants as well as oral interview for PhD applicants. Scholarships will be awarded to candidates that meet the selection requirements for both 2013/2014 and 2014/15 in September 2014.

Application Forms can be accessed online using an ATM card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc  in all the States and FCT, upon payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online are clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

Applicants may please note that only those who meet the requirements below shall be shortlisted and invited for an Electronic Aptitude Test, in the case of Masters Degree candidates, while oral interview will be conducted for PhD (full time) on dates to be announced later.

MSc (Overseas)
1.      A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience

2.      National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate

3.      Applicants must be computer literate

4.      Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language in WAEC/SSCE (C6) or NECO (C4);

5.      Applicants must not be above 30 years of age

Applicants without credit in English language as in (4) above but possess any of the following may apply

i. Test of English language as a foreign language (TOEFL)

ii. G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination)

iii. GMAT –for Management related courses

iv. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

PhD

1.      Applicants must be in Nigerian Institutions, teaching oil and gas related disciplines;

2.      Applicants must possess minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a good second degree certificate;

3.      Applicants must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection;

4.      Applicants must include a valid admission letter;

5.      Applicants must not be over 40 years of age; and;

6.      Applicants must include their Masters Degree project
