2013 WAEC May/June and November/December Examination Certificates Ready For Collection

WAEC has announced that the May/June and November/December 2013 Examination Certificates are ready for collection. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), wishes to inform the general public, particularly candidates, that certificates up to May/June 2013 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), conducted by WAEC, have been printed and dispatched to schools for collection by candidates.
 
In addition, certificates up to November/December 2013 WASSCE (Private), have also been printed and are awaiting collection by candidates in WAEC Offices nationwide.

Candidates for May/June examination diets are advised to collect their certificates from their former schools, while those for November/December examination diets are advised to collect their certificates at WAEC Zonal, Branch or Satellite Offices in the states where they sat the examinations.

Furthermore, the Council also wishes to advise candidates who sat previous diets of the November/December General Certificate of Education Ordinary/Advance Levels (GCE O/A Levels), and Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) (Private), who have not collected their certificates to do so at WAEC Zonal, Branch or Satellite Offices, not later than Friday, 30th January, 2015.

Candidates who fail to collect their certificates after that date may be charged an extra fee for the custody of the certificates.

How to Check WAEC 2014 May/June Result - WASCCE Result Out

Follow the simple steps below to check the West African Examination Council 2014 May/June WAEC Result when it’s out;
 
1) Visit the WEAC Result Checking Portal on www.waecdirect.org

2) Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number

(This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)

3) Select your Examination Year (i.e. 2014)

4) Select the Type of Examination ( i.e. MAY/JUNE WASSCE)

5) Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card

6) Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card

7) Click the Submit button and your WAEC result will appear on your computer screen
Alternatively, the result can be accessed via SMS;
This option involves sending SMS in the format below:

- WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear To 32327 (MTN, Celtel & Glo subscribers)

- Example: WAEC*4250101001*123456789012*2007

(Note: Make sure you adhere strictly to the format above. There should be no space in the message)

WAEC Result 2014 Statistics - Mass Failure in English and Mathematics

The West Africa Examination Council, WAEC has released its May/June 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, with students failing Mathematics and English Language "massively".
 

Head of National Office Mr. Charles Eguridu who announced the results on Monday, at WAEC office, Yaba, said a "total of 529,425 candidates, representing 31.28%, obtained credits in five (5) subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.”

He noted that when compared to the 2012 and 2013 May/June WASSCE diets, there was marginal decline in the performance of candidates as 38: 81 per cent was recorded in 2012 and 36.57 per cent in 2013.

Eguridu who disclosed that the results of 145,795 candidates, representing 8.61%, are being withheld in connection with various types of examination malpractice said, “The cases are being investigated and the reports of the investigations will be presented in November to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC).

Best Babcock Best Graduating Student - I Sat for Waec Exams 4 times

This is a story I hope all friends, parent and guardians share with their friends on social networks, a story which is both motivating to people of all age.

This story is about the best Babcock graduating student: Nineteen-year-old best graduating student of the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, whose name is Daniella Uzoamaka, after receiving the award, she speaks on her rough road to success.

According to Nigeria award winning writer and the late literary giant, Chinua Achebe, we decide to quote his words which he used in his award-winning novel, Things Fall Apart.
“Looking at a king’s mouth, one would think he never sucked at his mother’s breast” is one of the famous proverbs”

The truth is that the maxim suggests that usually comes when one is admiring the success of an accomplished man, there is the temptation to think that he never experienced any difficulties or hard times in life.

One thing for sure, is that the story of 19-year-old Uzoamaka Daniella, the 2014 best graduating student of the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, underscores this adage.
The Public Administration first class graduate obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average 4.86 out of the normal 5.00, which helped her to emerge as the school valedictorian.

The truth is that with this accomplishment, she received the academic, leadership, community and spiritual awards during the university’s 12th convocation, which was held on the 1^st of June, 2014.
Some of the honors she received are as follows:
President’s Award,
Senior Vice-President Prize,
The Dean, Business School Award,
Academic Programme Award in Public Administration.
Looking at her academic record at the university, we would think that throughout her road to success, she has everything and that it was tiled with gold through and through or that she was never associated with any manner of scholarly disappointment.

This view is, however, far from reality.

In fact, before the harvest of scholastic successes, the youngster had witnessed some rough edges of academic frustration. Particularly, at her primary and secondary school levels, were she disclosed to Dailyschoolnews correspondent, Faith, that she was not just an average pupil, but beneath that, and she also went on to say that she also experienced unpleasant academic moments.

For instance, she wrote the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination conducted by the West African Examinations Council and the National Examinations Council four times.

She notes with a touch of simplicity in her voice, “I have a piece of information for you. Do you know that I wrote the SSCE on four different occasions? The first was the private candidate November/December WASSCE; then my WAEC, NECO and another Nov/Dec examination. I did these examinations then because I had problem with Mathematics.

“You see, I realised at an early stage in my academic pursuit that examination malpractice is not a road to success. The farthest I can remember engaging in any examination malpractice was in my Junior Secondary School 1 class. Further, during my WAEC preparation, I was encouraged by the words of my school principal, Mrs. Oloriade, that it is better to fail honourably than to cheat. These words helped me to keep tight to my integrity in my exams.”

WAEC Fraudster Arrest by the Police

The Edo state Government recently arrested a 31-year old man identified as Akharamen Ehizokhai for defrauding students.

According to a police source, the suspect has a website where he posts fake SSCE questions and normally charges his victims N5000 per subject.

After series of reports by both students and parents the police decided to trail him which led to his arrest.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funso Adebanjo said the suspect who was said to have been involved in such fraudulent business for two years has confessed to the crime.

Adebanjo who said the suspect will soon be charged to court also remarked that it is the search of students for quick means of passing examinations instead of reading their books that often make them victims of such frauds and frowned at the fact that often times it is the parents of these students that give them money to pay for such instead of discouraging i.

Breaking News!! WAEC Candidate Gives Birth In Exam Hall

A 22-year-old final year student of Akyem Swedru Senior High School (SHS) in Ghana was reported to have delivered a baby while writing the ongoing West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to reports, the students were writing Biology paper when the pregnant girl began to scream, attracting the attention of the invigilators.

The student had allegedly delivered the baby boy without the assistance of her colleagues.
Daily Guide reports:

She was later rushed to the Akyem Roman Catholic Hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the baby boy had been named Kwaku Biology – (Kwaku, for the day he was born and Biology, the paper the student was writing before the delivery).

According to some sources, the student was impregnated by her fiancé but the man refused to contact the girl’s family because he claimed the girl was too fat.

The mother of the student, Mama Yaa, told the paper via telephone that she had no knowledge of her daughter’s pregnancy.

Danwono A.K. Michael, the headmaster of Akyem Swedru Senior High School, expressed surprise at the development, stating that the student never toyed with her studies.

Federal Government proposes 5-years jail term for exams Malpractises

The latest information reaching us reveals that The Federal Government (FG) has challenged the newly inaugurated nominees to the board of West African Examination Council (WAEC) to end the menace of examination malpractices and ensure integrity of WAEC certificate.

The F.G also proposed stiffer penalties for persons involved in examination malpractice, including a fine of two hundred thousand, (N200,000.00) or five(5) years jail terms for all forms of malpractices in WAEC examinations.

Supervising Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike, spoke on Thursday in Abuja, while inaugurating the governing councils and boards of four parastatals under Federal Ministry of Education.

“With regard to the nominees to the board of WAEC, my charge to you is simple: you must continue to ensure that the integrity of WAEC and its examinations is not compromised under any circumstances,” he said.

The boards and councils inaugurated were the that of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN); National Institute of Education Planners and Administrators (NIEPA); the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and the National Committee of the West African Examinations Council (Nigeria) WAEC.

Wike assured members of the board that the Federal Government remained committed to meeting all its obligations to WAEC.

He urged members of the council and boards of parastatals being inaugurated to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the effective administrative of the institutions.

He reminded them that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan considered education as a critical factor in the attainment of national development.

Mass Failure As WAEC Nov/Dec Released Analysis

Only 86,612 candidates, representing 29.17% obtained credits in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

Announcing the results in Lagos, Head of National Office, Mr Charles Eguridu said that 308,217 candidates registered for the Nov/Dec 2013 WASSCE. From the figure, he noted, 17 candidates, representing 20.73% obtained credits in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Eguridu said: “Of the total of candidates that sat the examination, 120,115 candidates, representing 40.46%, obtained 6 credits and above; 161,721 candidates representing 54.48% obtained 5 credits and above.

In addition, 198,832 candidates, representing 66.98% obtained credits and above in four subjects while 230,325 candidates representing 77.59 obtained Credits and above in 3 subjects. A total of 256,500 candidates representing 86.41% obtained credits and above in 2 subjects.”

When compared to the November/December 2011 and 2012 WASSCE (Private) results, Eguridu said, there is a marked decline in candidates’ performance.

He said: “In 2011 a total of 139,827 candidates, representing 36.07% obtained credits in 5 subjects and above including English Language and Mathematics.

Also in 2012, a total of 150,615 candidates, representing 37.97% obtained credits in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics.”

How To Check Your WAEC GCE 2013/2014 Results Nov/DEC

Announcement to the general public, the 2013/2014 Nov/Dec WAEC GCE exam that the result has been released.
 

Click here to go to waec site or google the site
Step 1: Identifying yourself: Supply your 10-digit WAEC GCE 2013 Examination Number. (ie. your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate seat number eg. 5251234589)
 
Step 2:  However you can type in other years if you are not checking for 2013.
 
Step 3: Select the type of examination you sat for. For WASSCE, choose Nov/Dec. or do otherwise if you wrote internal exam. 

Step 4: Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
 
Step 5: Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
 
Step 6: Click "Submit" and wait for your GCE results window to come up.
 

How to check your WAEC result on a mobile phone
You can check your WAEC result via SMS. To check your WAEC GCE Nov/Dec 2013 with a mobile phone, you will need to buy the WAEC Direct Scratch card for N500 or above

Simply send a short code in this format:
WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear to 32327 . For example, if your WAEC Examination number is 42966731, your PIN is 123456, and you sat for WAEC GCE in 2013, send WAEC*42966731*123456*2011 to 32327 . The WAEC SMS result checking service costs N30 per 

SMS and is available only on Glo, Airtel, and MTN networks.
