Gov Babatunde Fashola Declares Nov. 7 Public Holiday for Civil Servants to get their Voter's Card

Governor Fashola has declared Friday November 7, as holiday for all public servants in the state, so that they can collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) from INEC. 

Distribution of the PVCs holds from Friday, 7 till Sunday, November 9. He also appealed for the private sector to close early so that members of staff can go and pick up their cards. The governor also urged eligible voters from age 18 and above, to register.
 
“You have to register as a voter to be eligible to vote. We must take it seriously to make sure our names are in the voters register. Go to the polling centre to collect your PVC. No business or job can be more important than to collect your PVC. Between November 7 and 9, those who want to collect the PVC, should go out and collect them”, he said.
 
Those who lost their temporary voter’s card or have not registered before, can do so when INEC conducts fresh registration between 12 and 17 November.

Federal Government (FG) Declares October 1st a Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, Oct. 1, as Public Holiday to mark Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary.



This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magaji A.G., in Abuja last Thursday.

In the statement, the Minister of interior, Abba Moro congratulated Nigerians on behalf of the president, urging them to build a more united and virile nation that would be the pride of all citizens.

He also called on Nigerians to use the period to reflect on the giant strides made by President Goodluck Jonathan in the development and building of a formidable nation.

Delta State Government Declares Friday, Aug. 15, As Public Holiday — SSG

The Delta State Government on Wednesday declared Aug. 15 as public holiday, to enable eligible voters to obtain their Permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) from the officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This is contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Ovuozouries Macaulay, in Asaba.


According to the statement, INEC will begin the distribution of the PVCs in all the registration points across the state on Friday.

“The holiday will provide the opportunity for persons in the state who registered during the 2011 voter registration to exchange their temporary voter’s card with the PVC”.

FG Declares 28th and 29th July Public Holidays

The federal government has declared Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th July 2014 as public Holidays to celebrate the muslim feast of Eid-el-fitri.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the minister of Interior, Abba Moro.

He urged Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the holidays to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building.‬

Lagos State Government Declares June 12 as Public Holiday

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, today June 11th approved Thursday, June 12, 2014 as public holiday in Lagos to commemorate the June 12 1993 presidential election that was won by Late Chief Moshood Abiola.

The approval was contained in a circular signed today by the Head of Service Lagos State, Mrs Oluseyi Williams. The circular reads in part;

“In commemoration of June 12, 1993 as significant in the actualization of Democracy in Nigeria, it is hereby notified for general information that His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved Thursday, 12th June, 2014 as a work free day.” I'm sure Lagos state workers will be happy to hear this. Work will resume on Friday, June 13th.

FG Declared 29th May As Public Holiday to Mark Democracy Day Celebration.

Federal Government Declare Friday 18th and Monday 21st of April, 2014 as Public Holidays

We have been informed that the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro yesterday, 16th April, 2014, in a statement made on behalf of the Federal Government and signed by the permanent secretary, Mrs Fatima Bamidele; declared Friday 18th and Monday 21st of April, 2014 as Public Holidays to mark “Good Friday” and Easter celebrations for all the Christians.

Comrade Abba Moro, called on all Christian faithfuls and Nigerians to pray for peace and unity of Nigeria during this occasion.He finally urged all Nigerians to support the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in building a peaceful, united and virile nation.
