Excerpt of the statement reads, “In furtherance to save public education campaign that was started on August 13, 2013, with a mass rally in Lagos and subsequent mass protests in Calabar, Abeokuta, JAF hereby declares May 1, 2014 as a protest day in Lagos.”
JAF who declared their support for the on-going strike by ASUP/COESU, also urged all workers in the affiliates of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), the informal sector workers, artisans, traders, women, professionals, students in primary, secondary and tertiary institution levels, parents, etc, to march en masse to the Onikan Stadium, Lagos tomorrow, May 1, with their placards, banners, protest songs and souvenirs, to demand reversal in the hike of the school fees.
